The tense moments of Tuesday’s Nigeria – Argentina match have led to the death of a Nigerian medical doctor in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The consultant family physician, identified as Dr Chidi Ebirim from Imo State, was said to have slumped and died in his home during the match.
He was working at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State at the time of his death.
The physician was married with children.
A fellow medical doctor, who broke the news to Metrostarng on Wednesday morning, said more details were being awaited.
Calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages to the phones of Dr. Chuma Egbuji, chairman, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of FTH Abakaliki, went unanswered.
Nigeria lost 2-1 to Argentina and subsequently crashed out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
