The inauguration of Anambra State”s sixth elected governor, Prof .Chukwuma Soludo, got off to a rocky start on Thursday as his predecessor’s wife, Ebele Obiano, got a hot slap from a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Iyom Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
The inauguration at the Government House was intended as a solemn affair but for the intrusion by the controversial wife of outgone Governor Willie Obiano.
Soludo was signing his inauguration paiers when shouts rent the air from the direction of the VIP canopy to his right.
As recorded on camera, Ebele left her seat on the front row beside her husband and went to challenge Bianca.
Eyewitnesses said she asked Bianca what she was doing at the event when she had allegedly vowed never to attend any functional hejd by the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Bianca had criticised her perceived unfair treatment by the party’s leadership, especially how she was denied a ticket to run for the Senate in 2019.
After Obiano’s wife intruded on her space, Bianca reportedly got up and gave Ebele a hot slap.
Ebele was forced to retreat as she adjusted her wig several times while trying to regain her balance.
Dignitaries swiftly rushed to the scene and separated both women even as shouting rent the air from the canopy.
Ebele was led back to her seat by some dignitaries and openly shouted at her husband as he tried to caution her.
As she sat on her seat, she turned to Bianca and screamed: “Ashawo (slut).”
The development caught many by surprise as there were reports that Ebele was initially denied access to the venue.
Meanwhile, condemnation trailed the shocking incident across the sicias media.
Meanwhile, Soludo in his speech promised to govern the state well.
He immediately cancelled all revenue contracts in the state, as he had vowed to do shortly after his election.
He had arrived the venue in an Innoson Motors SUV, in line with his promise to patronise Made In Anambra products.
