Bayelsa: Diri, deputy sworn in

Senator Duoye Diri and Lawrence Ehwrujakpor were on Friday sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State respectively under heavy security.

The governor waved an olive branch at his opponents and members of the state house of assembly who defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress after the governorship election in November 2019.

He urged the defectors to return to the food and promised to reconcile with all his rivals.

Meanwhile, the police declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the state capital, Yenagoa following violence by APC thugs.

The hoodlums attacked houses belong to the immediate past Governor, Seriake Dickson, and Governor Duoye Diri.

They also attacked and burnt down the PDP state secretariat while security agents looked on without stopping them.
