APC’s cracks deepen as national secretary disowns party officials

The All Progressives Congress was on Sunday headed for unmitigated disaster as the Acting National Secretary, Victor Giadom, disowned some officials of the party.

In a statement,Giadom said he had intercepted a rebuttal of the notice of a National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday March 17, 2020 in Abuja.

He said the rebuttal was issued by persons purporting to act as national officials of the party, namely Babatunde Ogala, National Legal Adviser; Lanre Issa-Onilu, National Publicity Secretary; and Waziri Bulama, substantive National Secretary.

Giadom stated that the trip were smuggled into the party by embattled National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, who was ordered to vacate office on Wednesday by an FCT High Court.

He said none of them was elected at a national convention of the party.

In the notice titled ‘Disclaimer,’ Giadom urged security agencies to “refer to Article 20 of our party’s constitution as an attestation that neither Onilu nor Bulama are officials of the party as they never went through any convention as required by Article 20 if the party’s constitution which demands that they be democratically elected. Even where there is consensus, convention must ratify.”

He urged the police to arrest them immediately.

He also urged the police to obtain the list of certified APC officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The police had barred Oshiomhole and his aides from the secretariat pending the resolution of the matter by the courts.
