Loyalists of the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s governorship candidate in Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Sunday escaped death by a whisker when unknown gunmen attacked two separate convoys at Afor market in Nnobi.

The gunmen were said to have run into the usual gridlock at the busy market on Sunday evening and started shooting sporadically to scare road users.

A group of vigilantes from neighbouring Alor challenged the gunmen but we’re overpowered in the process.

Four of the vigilantes were gunned down and their patrol vans set ablaze.

The hoodlums, on sighting the Soludo loyalists’ convoy of two Toyota Hilux vans, swiftly opened fire on them.

However, the occupants of the vehicles including the leader of the Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo group, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, had alighted from the cabs immediately they ran into the gridlock for safety reasons.

Bedlam ensued as traders and road users died to safety.

The gunmen also fled the scene.

Confirming the development in a WhatsApp message, Omenugha said; ”

Goodmorning dear and please, thank God in every special way for my life. Yesterday evening, I was attacked with my Hilux set ablazed by ‘unknown Gunmen’ at Nnobi. I am keeping safe and please, stay safe. It’s indeed, a crazy world..”
