Anambra: INEC nullifies APC’s governorship primaries

Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday nullified the results of the June 26, 2021 All Progressives Congress governorship primaries which produced a former senator, Andy Uba, as the purported winner.

INEC in a report said five of its officials who were deployed in the party’s voting centres across the state did not witness any primaries between 8am and 5.30pm.

The purported primaries were supervised by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The report was signed by the Principal Executive Officer Elections and Party Monitoring, INEC headquarters, Modibbo Bellel; Head of Department, Elections and Party Monitoring, Anambra State, ibe U. Ibe; and Assistant Director, Elections and Party Monitoring INEC headquarters, Nkechi Abuh.

They stated that party members turned out in their numbers for the period INEC officials appeared for monitoring from 8am to 5.30pm but did not participate in the primaries.

“The commission’s monitors did not witness accreditation, voting, counting of votes, collation or declaration of results at the voting centres and collation centres up till 5.30pm when the monitors were recalled,” it said in part.
