Anambra State governorship primaries of the All Progressives Grand Alliance is under serious threat, as the member representing Njikoka II State Constituency, Sir. Pete Ibida, has dragged the party to court.

Also joined as co-defendants in the suit seeking to ensure transparent governorship primaries are the APGA National Chairman, Ozonkpu Victor Oye; the party’s National Legal Adviser, Sylvester Ezeokenwa; and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ibida, a ranking member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, is urging the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka to order the national leadership to conduct the primaries in accordance with the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and the party’s constitution

No date has been fixed for the hearing.

The party has been rocked by crises over the selection of a governorship candidate for the Anambra State election scheduled for November 6, 2021.

A faction of the party had recently sacked Oye and declared one of its chieftains as the national chairman.

However, Oye declared his sacking as untenable.
