Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday ordered the arrest of the 20 gunmen who invaded Isheri North Estate GRA in Ogun State and kidnapped its Secretary, Dayo Adebayo.
Isheri North is a swampy posh neighborhood on the boundary between Lagos and Ogun states and was shaken on Thursday morning by the invasion around 1.30a.m which lasted for four hours.
Six months ago, gunmen invaded the estate and kidnapped a number of residents during their public workout.
Thursday’s attackers also killed three vigilantes who tried to stop them from escaping with Adebayo.
Ambode said in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, that he had directed the Commissioner for Police, Fatai Owoseni, to act decisively and apprehend the kidnappers.
He promised to leave no stone unturned n ensuring the security of lives and property in the state, adding tht it was in demonstration of this resolve that he signed the anti-kidnapping bill into law two weeks ago.
Owoseni had said on Channels Television on Thursday that the attackers were planning a mass kidnap of residents of the estate before the police arrived and foiled their plan.
