AfDB President, Akinwunmi Adesina: I won’t step down

President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, on Wednesday vowed to continue in office despite allegations of misconduct levelled against him by some anonymous whistleblowers.

In a statement made available to the media, Adesina said he believed the bank would emerge stronger from the crisis engendered by allegations that he illegally used its resources for personal benefit.

The United States has jumped into the fray, insisting on a fresh probe of the former Nigerian agriculture minister mesoute his being created by a probe panel.

In the statement, Adesina said”I’m confident that fair, transparent and just processes that respect the rules, procedures and governance systems of the bank and the rule of law will ultimately prove that I have not violated the Code of Ethics of this extraordinary institution.”
