Access Bank on Tuesday debunked claims by hackers that they had infiltrated its network and obtained the Bank Verification Numbers of 2000 customers.
A tweet on a handle @nekkasmith had alleged that the bank’s security system was “not tidy.”
The tweet sent Access Bank customers into a frenzy as thousands besieged the bank, seeking an explanation.
However, the bank swiftly responded in a tweet: “Criminals have posted pages purporting to contain customer account information. We’ve alerted law enforcement agencies and ask that you ignore the post. There is no threat to your account balances. Pls. continue to follow security protocol by never sharing your account details.”
