Peoples Democratic Party on Friday said it would zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the South-East.
The issue had generated widespread debate, leading to the defection of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, from the party to the All Progressives Congress.
However, Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, said at the party’s youth summit in Awka, Anambra State that the ticket would be zoned to the region.
He said the party was cognisant of the importance of Igbos in Nigeria’s socio-economic and political development.
The theme of the summit, which will hold in other parts of Nigeria, was ‘Youths in Governance.’
Jibrin said: "PDP will give Igbos the highest position in this country. Nigeria is in the hands of Igbos.”
Also speaking, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said the summit was expected to galvanise youths to take up leadership roles in the nation.
