A Police Inspector attached to Ikotun Division of the Lagos State Police Command, Inspector Okoro Charles, was on Wednesday arrested for shooting and killing a Muslim cleric, Fatai Oladipupo.
The inspector was arrested in connection with a shooting incident reported on Wednesday around 10.05pm along Obabiyi,-Igando Road in Ikotun, which led to Oladipupo’s death.
The killer police officer has been subjected to internal disciplinary procedures, known as Orderly Room Trial at the State Provost Department.
If found guilty, he will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department foat Yaba for prosecution, according to the spokesman for the state command, DSP Bala Elkanah.
“Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. The Commissioner of Police condoles with the family and friends of the deceased and calls for calm.
“He assures them that justice will prevail. Members of the public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation,” he added.
