Soldiers disappear as Peter Obi, others grace burial of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents

The large detachment of soldiers at Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State was missing on Friday as the family of the leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, buried their patriarch, Eze Israel Kanu, and his wife.

Though the IPOB leader was absent, members of the group gathered on Factory Road, chanting solidarity songs.

Soldiers who had invaded the town after the Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, raised the alarm over alleged plans by IPOB to disrupt the funeral

The family, however, countered the CP, saying he was raising unnecessary tension in the state.

A former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, was among the dignitaries at the event.
