Five die in lone Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash


Five persons were confirmed dead and nine injured on Saturday in a lone crash involving a Toyota Hiace bus at Danco filling station in Sagamu, Ogun State.

The report was contained in a statement posted by the spokesperson for the state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Route Commander Florence Okpe.

She said the crash, which occurred around 9:10pm, involved a total of 14 people comprising 10 male adults and 04 female adults.

The lone crash involved the white Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number LSR 642 XB.

The suspected cause of the lone crash as speed violation.

“Injured victims were rescued to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Sagamu while the corpses of the dead victims were deposited at the same Hospital’s Morgue and the obstructions cleared for free flow of traffic.

The FRSC Sector Commander Ogun State Command, Clement Oladele has commisorated with the victims and enjoined members of the public whose relations travelled in the Ill – fated crash to contact the FRSC Command in Sagamu or the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Sagamu, for details on the crash .

The Sector Commander has reiterated the need for motorists to drive cautiously within the recommended speed of 50 kilometers per hour at construction sites.
