Gunmen rob Onitsha petrol station, kill security guard, salesgirl

Gunmen on Friday night attacked Seaman filling station opposite Zik’s Mausoleum in Onitsha, Anambra State, dispossessing pump attendants of their sales and killing a security guard.

They also killed a salesgirl at a pharmacy on Awka Road, Onitsha.

The two incidents occurred few hours after Governor Willie Obiano launched Operation Kpochapu in the state capital, Awka, to rid the state if criminals.

The gunmen, who pretended to be customers, asked the filling station’s attendants to allow them access around 11.30pm.

When they got into the filling station, they held everyone in sight ay gunpoint and collected all the cash on them.

They then opened fire on a nearby security guard and an employee of the outlet who tried to flee the scene.

They also attacked a nearby pharmacy, killing the salesgirl and robbing the outlet and some customers of their money.

They then left without any challenge despite the regular presence of mobile policemen at the popular Zik’s Roundabout.
