ManUtd: Ole blur future glory

By Jegede Boluwaji

The hierarchy at Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho and employed a former Red Devil, Solskjaer due to the fact that they wanted a change of style to their football, they believed with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he can be induce his style and culture of the United way to the players – the 1998 UCL dream success where he scored the late winning goal was all in review.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed an interim manager, came and looked good, won games – He became the first United manager to win his first six league games, beating a record held by Sir Matt Busby. Before Ole came, United were sixth in the Premier League and 11 points off the top four. He turns the fortune around and United were 2 points behind Chelsea in Champions League spot. In his exceptional reign as United interim boss, played 19 games, won 14, drew 2 and lost 3.

After a comeback win against Paris St. German in the Champions League, he was appointed permanent manager of United and it’s look as though he was the perfect man for the job. Fully in -charge of the team, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer honeymoon was over- United couldn’t win on the bounce anymore, they were struggling to win game, away from home United lost and everything was upside down. A lot of fans said he should be given more time and couldn’t see anything wrong with him losing, and can’t win all his games.

In the end of last season, he couldn’t make the top 4 and had chances to restrategize on players, sold couple of them and didn’t replace during the transfer window. At this point, Ole now find it difficult to be supported with these acts which most United fans believes he can do more if replacements are well in place but he couldn’t, the midfield was very weak.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have managed 7 loss and 4 draw in the last 11 away games for Manchester United.

All said, Lampard who was appointed to manage Chelsea, didn’t had the transfer window to deal with due to transfer bans but still made use of the young players with a very good plan and style which is yielding results. Ole’s style and plan was nowhere to be seen, the picture seems blur – United have struggled since the first 4-0 win over Chelsea. Sadly, the reality remains that he’s not good enough and need to resign for the good.
