Delta State Government on Friday said it had reopened Warri-Sapele federal highway after it engaged a contractor to carry out remedial work on some distressed portions of one side of the highway.
It stated that work would commence in the other side on Saturday.
In a tweet in its page, the state government said: “BREAKING: The Delta State Government has reopened the Warri/Sapele/Benin Federal highway which was shut down for reconstruction. This fulfills the State Government’s promise to commuters to reopen the road before Saturday.
“The Delta State Government commends the contractor working on the road, Obakpor J.U. Construction, for its commitment and sacrifice — which has led to the punctual reopening of the highway.
“The State Government also commends Deltans and other road users for their patience and cooperation while the federal highway was closed.
Effective tomorrow, work will commence on the other side of the road.”
