Iran has honoured some activists that held a sitout protest outside the Nigerian High Commission in London demanding the release of the leader of Shiites in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky, his wife, Ameena, and followers from the custody of the Nigerian State.
The activists under the aegis of
the Islamic Human Rights Commission and AIM were hosted in the capital, Tehran, by an aide to the supreme leader, Mehdi Rezvi.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police on Tuesday shut and killed no fewer than five Shiites as they proceeded with their Ashura procession in Abuja, Gombe and Bauchi.
The Shiites had insisted on going ahead with the procession despite threats from the police to use extreme force to disrupt the annual event
