Unidentified hackers on Friday successfully compromised Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s Twitter handle.
The hackers succeeded in wiping out all his 2,300 tweets since he joined the social medium in December 2014.
His account was also unverified
They left only his retweet of an NPower video of August 3, 2019 and left his 2.1 million contacts.
Clicking on a link ‘Show More’ would take a visitor to his or her contacts.
The hackers also wiped out replies to the vice-president’s tweets as well as videos and photographs.
They only left posts he liked.
His spokesman, Pastor Laolu Akande, confirmed the development in a tweet on Saturday
It reads: “Yesterday, there were failed external attempts to gain unauthorized access to the Vice President’s Twitter Account. Since, we have been in contact with Twitter, securing the account, and forestalling a reoccurrence. The VP will continue to actively communicate with our citizens.”
There have been concerns about some developments on Twitter in recent times.
Some days ago, Twitter wiped out the followers’ lists of a number of Nigerian social media influencers and even blocked a number of accounts.
Last month, Scotland Yard reported that hackers successfully gained “unauthorised access” to its Twitter account and posted a series of messages and photographs.
