Assault: Amnesty International urges police to prosecute Adamawa senator

Amnesty International on Tuesday called and n the Nigeria Police to investigate the senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, after he was caught on CCTV camera assaulting a nursing mother in a sex toys shop in Abuja.

It said in a statement: “Amnesty International is calling on the Nigeria Police to investigate Senator Elisha Abbo (Adamawa North) who took three ladies shopping in a sex toys shop in Abuja (and) assaulted a nursing mother in the presence of policemen.

“This must be investigated. The lawmaker must face justice. The victim’s must be protected from his promise of more violence ”

Meanwhile, the senator has admitted that he was involved in such an incident

Though the CCTV of the sex toys shop indicated it took place in May this year, Abbo told Punch Newspaper in an SMS that it was in March.

“I saw your message and I am aware of the report. I am putting my team together. I am aware that the thing happened around March this year but I will get in touch with you when we finish discussion. I am in a meeting now,” the lawmaker told Punch.

The police have so far failed to arrest and prosecute him.

The victim who was treated for eye inflammation and other injuries is demanding an apology from the senator and the settlement of her medical bill.
