Officers of Britain’s Metropolitan Police on Thursday arrested Wikileaks co-founder, Julian Assange.

The activist, who had been hiding in the Ecuadorian Embassy for seven years, was arrested after the ambassador invited police into the diplomatic post.

He has been taken into custody at a central London police station where he will remain, before being presented before Westminster Magistrates’ Court as soon as is possible.
