The Federal Government and the 36 state governors on Tuesday night agreed to adopt N22,000 as the new national minimum wage.

Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, who spoke for the governors in his capacity as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, in Abuja said the decision was reached after an extensive meeting with Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Udo Udoma.

This is at variance with N30,000 demanded by organised labour to avert a fresh strike by Nigerian workers.

There was no response from labour.
