All Progressives Congress National Caucus has adopted direct primaries as the.mose.of selection of candidates for the 2019 elections.

It also fixed September 23, 2018 for its presidential primaries and September 26, 2018 to choose its flagbearers for the federal and state legislative elections.

These were among the decisions reached at the meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday night.

It stated that the decisions would be subject to ratification by the National Executive Committee on Thursday.

Sources said the matter was thoroughly debated and that that President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and party leaders agreed that direct primaries were the best way to pick candidates for the coming elections.

They also agreed that where any state APC executive prefers indirect primaries or delegates election, it should write the national leadership.

The final decision would rest on the national leadership.

Oshiomhole was quoted as saying that "loyal" APC members must be "protected, compensated and rewarded."
