Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday delivered a masterstroke against President Muhammadu Buhari when he beat a surge by the police and secret service agents on his official residence to president over plenary.
During plenary, 15 All Progressives Congress senators defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Sen. Lanre Tejouso
Sen. Barnabas Gemade
Sen. Dino Melaye.
Sen. Shitu Ubali
Sen. Isa Misau
Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
Some pro-Buhari senators had asked the president to arrange for a siege on the homes of Buhari and his deputy, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu, so that they would converge on the chambers and impeach him by 10am.
APC is now a minority in the Senate.
The same thing is expected to happen in the House of Representatives.
But Saraki beat the convoy, drove to the National Assembly, alighted and trekked the rest of the way.
He was joined by huge crowds of supporters and fellow senators.
The police swiftly denied laying a siege to the residences of Saraki and his deputy.
The presidential villa is Saud to be in disarray wuth the failed move to unseat Saraki.
