Armed bandits on Birnin-Gwari Kaduna highway, on Tuesday afternoon, ambushed a police vehicle on routine patrol, killing three personnel.
The criminals also burnt their vehicle, according to a statement by the Chairman, Birnin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Nagwari.
According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred near Labi village under Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area.
It reads: "On behalf of the entire people of Birnin-Gwari and our association Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, we extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and the Nigeria Police Force for this irreparable loss.
"We equally like to commend all security agencies for the difficult task of uprooting acts of terrorism, armed banditry and kidnappings along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway as well as Birnin-Gwari-Funtua Road and indeed the Kamuku Forest.
"We are calling on all peace loving people of Birnin-Gwari to volunteer in assisting security agencies to unmask all evil elements across our territory and also give accurate information on all hideouts of these criminals."
