A five-kilometre-long gridlock has shut down the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway outward Lagos.
The gridlock stretching from Ascon bus-stop to MFM Prayer City is lengthening by the minute as more vehicles and trucks join the long lines.
The cause of the gridlock is twofold as observed by our correspondent.
One is the reduction of the four-page expressway to two lanes by Julius Berger, the contractor handling Section 1 reconstruction of the road.
The reduction is between Gideon Village bus-stop by Winners Chapel and Aseese.
The second reason is a vehicle that broke down by Ascon bus-stop, further reducing the lanes to one.
Worshippers heading for tonight’s monthly vigil of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at the RCCG Campground may be affected unless urgent steps are taken to clear the gridlock.
Neuther traffic or road safety officials not policemen have been deployed in the route to deal with the traffic.
Meanwhile, road users are already driving against traffic inward Lagos.
