DSS arrests Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe

The Department for State Services on Friday arrested Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe at a popular hotel in Maitama, Abuja for undisclosed reasons.

DSS operatives trailer the senator from the National Assembly to the hotel where they arrested him.

Attempts to reach his spokesman, Chris Awom, were unsuccessful.

Abaribe representing Abia North on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party has been a vocal member of the National Assembly.

Some months ago when he described President Muhammadu Buhari as “incompetent,” there was an uproar in the Senate.

He stood surety for the missing leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, during his trial for alleged treason last year.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had some months ago ordered him and two other sureties to produce Kanu, who is believed to have either been killed or abducted by soldiers in September last year at his country home in Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia Abia State.
