Buhari plans supplementary 2018 budget

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said he would send a supplementary 2018 budget to the National Assembly to correct anomalies discovered in the newly signed Appropriation Act.

Buhari, who spoke at the signing of the 2018 budget at the mini conference hall of his office, said he was “compelled to sign” the budget despite the discrepancies in order not to disrupt the economy.

He said the National Assembly cut votes for some key projects and of also raising its budget without consulting the Executive.

He also said the National Assembly inserted a number of projects unto the budget.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, is expected to give the budget breakdown by 10am on Thursday.
