Ahead of the 2019 general elections, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar met n Monday with erstwhile Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, at Akure Airport.
The meeting, which held amidst banters, happened when they met by chance at the airport as Atiku was heading to Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, for consultations with Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Also at the meeting was a former Governor of Ogun State and Director-General of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Though details of their meeting were not available, it was not unconnected with jostling and consultations across party lines ahead of the 2019 elections.
Atiku and Tinubu formed the defunct Action Congress in September 2006 at the height.of the then vice-president’s feud with then President Olusegun Obasanjo.
They, howrver, fell out politically after Atiku failed to win the 2007 presidential election.
Atiku then returned to the Peoples Democratic Party.
In 2013, he again joined forces with Tinubu and some other political heavyweights to form the All Progressives Congress that ushered in President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
He, however, dumped APC and returned to PDP in 2017 due to irreconcilable differences Buhari and some APC leaders.
He has thrown his hat into the ring while Tinubu is strongly working for a second term for Buhari.
