Hundreds of motorists were stranded on Sunday after heavy rainfall destroyed Mowo bridge on Jebba-Mokwa Road.
Also, a trailer driver and his assistants escaped death when their truck crashed into the raging river.
Motorists on the busy North-South link were stranded on both sides of the road.
Spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, who confirmed the development with photigraohs said: “The bridge after Mowo Junction, 18km from Mokwa, on Mokwa- Jebba road has collapsed due to heavy rainfall.
“Vehicular movement from both sides of the road is affected . Motorists are advised to take Lokoja road if going to Lagos and Abuja in the interim.”
