University of Ibadan (UI) is set to recall students of its College of Medicine, four weeks after ejecting its medical students out of the hostels, News Digest can reliably report.
News Digest reports that management of the University of Ibadan had ordered medical students to evacuate their hostel, Alexander Brown Hall after a peaceful protest over an increase in accommodation fees.
The management of the school had jacked accommodation fee being paid by the students from N14, 000 to N30, 000 for residential halls within the university’s main campus, and to N40, 000 for students resident in the Medial hall, Alexander Brown Hall, located within the premises of University College Teaching Hospital.
The university had also increased the professional tuition fee of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Idowu Olayinka, had earlier told The News Digest that the fees has been slashed but could not confirm what percentage.
The vice-chancellor also told News Digest that the students would be recalled when the provost announces a date soon.
