There is growing unease in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as he returns to Londonon Tuesday May 8, 2018 for fresh medical checks.
Buhari had spent weeks on two medical trips to London last year for an undisclosed ailment.
He met with his doctors for two separate checks in the last few months but has so far refused to inform Nigerians about the state of his health.
“In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor.
“The doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do.
“President Buhari will return on Saturday, May 12th.
“On his return, the President’s two-day State visit to Jigawa, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Ward Congresses, will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May,” his media office said late Monday.
Though he declared intention to seek a second term last month, the state of his health has remained a major topic among close watchers of his presidency.
It is not yet clear if he will finally decide to run or pick a candidate from among a wide field of contenders in his party.
He has already informed the National Assembly of his short trip.
