Confusion as Osun shuts OAU over N1.8bn unpaid taxes

There was confusion in Wednesday as Osun State Government shut Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife over N1.8 billion unpaid taxes.

The institution was shut by a team led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Revenue and Tax Matters, Gbenga Akano, who told journalists that OAU management had shunned entreaties to dialogue on the unpaid taxes.

The team sealed off the institution’s main gate, causing a gridlock as vehicles could not either enter the premises or leave.

The management could not be reached for comments.
