How we made N100m from kidnapping – Herdsman

A herdsman, Muritala Umaru, has confessed to making over N100 million from various kidnap victims in Kogi and Edo states in the last four years.

The suspect, who was paraded by the Edo State Police in Benin on Tuesday said he worked for a certain “chief,” who allegedly killed those hostages that failed to cooperate.

The herdsman, who was arrested with an AK47 rifle, said his gang had no fewer than 10 in its possession.

He said he had kidnapped over 50 persons, noting that there was an informant who usually gave his gang tips about potential victims.

He said their concentration was on travellers.

Edo State Commissioner of Police, Me. Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the development, noting that Umaru was an ex-convict who mingled with herdsmen to engage in kidnapping.
