The Nigeria Police say they killed seven suspected kidnappers in Benin, Edo State and Fidiwo, Ogun State.
The.police responded to distress calls in both instances and succeeded in rescuing the hostages of the suspected kidnappers.
In Benin on Wednesday, the police intercepted a four-day gang of kidnappers after they had seized a victim on Falonu Street off Country Home Motel Road, GRA and were escaping from the scene.
The.police killed the alleged leader of the gang, who was said to have been on its wanted list for sometime.
The others fled with bullet wounds, according to the police.
In the earlier incident n Tuesday, policemen attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad engaged a six-man gang of kidnappers in a forest at Fidiwo on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and killed all its members.
They also rescued two medical doctors working at University College Hospital, Ibadan who had been kidnapped on their way to Lagos by the gang.
The policemen had stirnrd the gunmen’s hideout where they recovered guns, cartridges, machetes and other items.
Two policemen were injured in the encounter.
The state police command had been on the trail of the abductors for sometime and sought the help of FRSARS to bring their activities to an end.
The development was confirmed by the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
