Boko Haram frees Dapchi schoolgirls

The presidency on Wednesday said the 110 pupils of Government Girls Science Technical College Dapchi Yobe State had been released by Boko Haram insurgents.

Five of the schoolgirls are, however, said to be dead.

They were kidnapped from their school on February 19, 2018 by a large group of insurgents after soldiers and policemen allegedly deserted the town.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the development to the media.

The girls were returned in batches to Dapchi.

Howrver, a parent, Sharibu Nata, told a TV station that his daughter was not released because she refused to renounce Jesus Christ.
