Oyegun, however, hinted that the delegates’ list that would be used
to conduct the primary had been compiled, insisting that copies would be made available to aspirants with good financial standings in due course.
The former Edo State governor added that the party was not oblivious of the importance of Ekiti election in the history of politics in
Nigeria, saying: “We will work hard to ensure that Ekiti returns to the progressive fold.
“Though, we are in power at the Cetntre, that doesn’t mean we
should not work hard. President Muhammadu Buhari as you know, will not rig or compromise or subvert the will of the electorate, so we must work hard to deserve the victory that will come to us”.
The APC chairman, who later moved to Eagles Civic Centre along Ado-Ikere Road where he addressed the party on the seven points agenda set for the National
Working Committee by Ekiti APC members to make the primary a success.
Oyegun was received by the party chieftains, including the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Segun Oni: Minister of
Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi: APC state Chairman, Chief Jide Awe and others for members of the State Working Committee.
Among aspirants at the event were Oni, Senator Gbenga Aluko, Senator Ayo Arise, Dr Wole Oluyede, Chief Oluwole Oluleye, Capt Sunday Adebomi, Hon Bimbo Daramola, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, Victor Kolade, Mr Kola Alabi, Mr Diran Adesua, Dr Bayo Oriire, Hon Femi Bamisile, while others like Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and Hon. Bamidele Faparusi sent representatives.
Oyegun charged aspirants on free campaigns, saying: “You must not campaign as if there won’t be

Oyegun said the choice of Ekiti to flag off the programme was
strategic, saying this conveyed a vivid and strong message of love for the people of the State.
“I am happy with APC in Ekiti with the level of mobilization from our
aspirants. You have shown that you are desirous to join the
progressive fold. We didn’t choose Ekiti for the flag off of this
programme by accident.
“We must know that Ekiti is facing one of the most important elections
in our history. God has put the victory on our laps, he has put it in
our hands and we must not lose it.
“We at the national headquarters have decided that this election is
one that we will work hard, leave no stone unturned, because to us
is a must –win election”.
“As you know, President Buhari won’t alter or compromise the outcome of election, this shows Ekiti will have free and fair election, so we must be united and work hard to achieve victory together”, he concluded.
