2019: Buhari, Osinbajo beg Sambo to dump PDP

In a desperate effort to get support for his second term bid, President Muhammadu Buhari met with former Vice-President Namadi Sambo in his office on Tuesday.

Also at the meeting was Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Though Sambo told State House reporters after the meeting that lasted for 25 minutes that it was a private visit, Metrostarng learnt that it was in an effort to woo Sambo to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

It was learnt that Sambo, who met with Osinbajo in May 2017 while the latter was acting president, did not give a firm commitment on the matter.

He also worshipped with Buhari inside the Presidential Villa in September 2017 as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary.

It is not known if Sambo and his erstwhile principal, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, had fallen apart.

Sambo’s romance with the ruling APC has, however, stirred much suspicion in his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, especially over rumours that he is planning to join. APC.
