Defence minister: We’re closing in on Dapchi girls’ abductors

Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Aki, on Friday said the military is closing in on the abductors of 110 pupils of Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.

Speaking to Channels Television in his office, the minister said the military were confident of rescuing the girls unharmed in a matter of weeks.

Though he could not give a timeline as demanded by the interviewer, the minister said it night from a week or two or even more.

He said the Nigerian Air Force had been running sorties around areas where the Boko Haram abductors are believed to be keeping the girls.

There are reports that the kidnappers have demanded $20 million for the release of the girls.
