115 escape death as plane’s engine catches fire

No fewer than five crew and 110 passengers escaped death on Wednesday when one of the engines of a Southwest Airlines aircraft caught fire while taking off from Salt Lake City Airport on a scheduled flight to Los Angeles.

Shocking footage has revealed the moment flames started to shoot out of the side of a passenger jet shortly after takeoff.

Shot from the ground, it tracks aSouthwest Airlines flight to Los Angeles with 115 people on board following its departure from Salt Lake City on Monday morning.

As it moves up and across the sky, a huge burst of flames can be seen blasting out of the aircraft’s fuselage.

The passengers were safely evacuated after the plane returned to the airport and put on another flight to Los Angeles.
