Two arrested as herdsmen plan attack on Benue gov’s farm

Two herdsmen were arrested on Thursday while planning to attack a fish farm belonging to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

The suspects were part of a gang of armed herdsmen who were waiting to invade the pond and nearby farms when they were accosted on Gbajimba-Iyiodeh Road in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by troops of the 707 Special Forces Brigade.

They were overpowered during an exchange of fire with the troops after which two of the herdsmen were arrested.

Spokesman for the brigade, Major Olabisi Ayeni, confirmed the development and said the herdsmen were suspected to be planning an attack on Ortom’s fish farm when they were arrested.
