BY ANAYO ONUKWUGHA, Port Harcourt –
A suspected kidnapper, Roland Peter, is now telling detectives of the Rivers State Police Command how he and members of his gang used the liver and intestine of a pastor, Samuel Okpara to cook pepper soup and plantain porridge in Rivers State.
Okpara, an indigene of Edoha community in Ahoada-East local government area of Rivers State, was kidnapped by the hoodlums on August 15, 2017.
The kidnappers killed and beheaded him before using his organs for pepper soup and plantain porridge.
The suspected kidnapper, who was paraded before newsmen by the police in Port Harcourt yesterday, said he is in possession of the gang’s rifles, which is led by one Justus, popularly known as High-Tension.
Addressing newsmen later, the commissioner of Police, Zaki Mohammed Ahmed, said the arrest of the suspect was in continuation of the command’s onslaught against kidnapping in the state.
Ahmed, who regretted the escape of Ifeanyichukwu Dike, who was said to have killed an 8-year old girl, Chikamso Victory, from the police net, said progress was on to re-arrest the suspect as some arrests have been made.
He said, “The event of 19th August 2017, in which a suspected ritualist, Ifeanyi Chukwu Maxwell Dike, a 200 level student of University of Port Harcourt, where one Victoria Chikamso Mesu was
killed and dismembered for alleged ritual purposes, is unfortunate and highly regretted.
“His arrest and subsequent parade before the press on Saturday, 19th August 2017 was a clear indication to showcase the immense partnership of the police and the public in fighting crime. Information of his escape from IPO in course of statement taking did not only leave sour taste in the mouth of the command, but also created a dent in my avowed fight against crime and criminality.
“I wish to at this juncture to crave your continued support in our fight against crime and criminality as this is the only way in which we can make Rivers State safe for law abiding citizens.”
