The Ondo State Government has suspended indefinitely the coronation of new Alale of Akungba Akoko, Oba Sunday Isaac Ajimoh.
The state government said, the planned coronation slated for 29th July, 2017 would lead to breach of peace in the ancient community if not suspended.
The decision of the government was made known to the monarch through a letter dated 19 July, 2017 and signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr Adeyemi Adeyemo.
The government however directed all security agencies to enforce the suspension of the coronation appropriately.
Alale Stool has been in Contention at a High and Appeal Courts since 2007.
In Dec 20,2013, a judgment was delivered at the state High Court in Ikare in favour of prince Oseni Isiaka Adu as the Alale Elect of Akungba Akoko from Ole Ruling house.
In the ruling, Justice B. F Adeyeye ruled that the selection process of Prince Oseni Isiaka Adu by the kingmakers as the Alale of Akungba Akoko remains valid.
The Ajimoh family who were not satisfied with the judgment appealed the ruling at the appellate Court in Akure and the case is still pending.
But the administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko towards the end of his government installed one Oba Sunday Ajimoh as Alale of Akungba Akoko who was never a party to the suit.
While reacting to the development when contacted,  Oba Ajimoh described the decision of the state government as politically motivated.
The monarch vowed to challenge the suspension of his coronation at appropriately quarters.
The embattled Alale said the decision was unfortunate and blamed his opponent for writing frivolous petitions against him and creating undue tension over the obaship tussle in the town.
