by Midat Joseph and MSUE AZA,
The operatives of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have raided Kaduna residence of former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, at No. 1 Alimi road for possible search which lasted two hours.
According to an eyewitness account, the heavily armed ICPC operatives blocked the major road leading to the residence to divert motorists and other passersby plying the road to another route while other operatives were said to have gone into the residence.
LEADERSHIP learnt that, the anti-graft personnel blocked the main road with a dark-coloured Toyota Corolla and turned back road users from the scene of the operation.
It further gathered that, the commission came with a Toyota Hilux Van and a Coaster bus loaded with operatives.
Our correspondent reports that, a combined team of the DSS, SARs, and the ICPC officials raided the house for almost two hours.
When LEADERSHIP visited the house, our correspondent observed a pilot vehicle leading   other vehicles out of the residence.
One of the residents of  the area, who pleaded for an anonymity explained that when they(ICPC) came into the residence, they threatened to shoot anybody that moves around the house.
“As they came they warned that anybody that moves would be shot,” the resident said.
“They came at about 3.00pm and left at about  some minutes to 5:00pm,” he said.
“We saw police, SARS, DSS and we are trying to confirm from them their mission and they  told us that they are here to search.
“They threatened to shoot us. They blocked all the roads leading to this place, this is the fifth time in three months that they came to this house,” the resident reported.
Reacting to the raid of Sambo’s residence in Kaduna by ICPC operatives, Sani said after the search nothing was found adding that,it was not the first time the house was being searched.
His words:”This is not the first time they are searching the house. They have been coming to search the house on several occasions.
“Today they came with a court order and gave a copy of the court order to the CSO (Chief Security Officer) in the house.
After they finished the search, they wrote at the back page of the court order that they gave to the CSO that they didn’t find anything and they left. So we are not surprise because it has now become a routine activity,” Sani explained.
