In furtherance of his search for political solution to the leadership crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former President Goodluck Jonathan will on Thursday meet with key stakeholders of the party.
It was gathered that the meeting will bring together representatives from all the organs and interest groups in the party.
Recall that the warring factions led by Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff and Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, had agreed to cessation of media war as brokered by the chairman of the reconciliation committee of the party and Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson.
Before then however, Jonathan’s proposal for a political solution had met a setback as both camps distanced themselves from the process.
When contacted, spokesman of the Makarfi-led PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said they are party to Jonathan’s stakeholders meeting. Attempts to get a reaction from spokesman of Sheriff’s PDP were not possible as he didn’t reply to a text message sent to him.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Forum of the party, yesterday said Jonathan isthe only voice that can bring all warring groups together and resolve all the issues.
The women stated this during a courtesy call to the former president  in his Abuja Office yesterday.
According to a statement by Jonathan’s media adviser,  Ikechukwu Eze, the Leader of the group Senator Biodun Olujimi, former deputy governor of Ekiti State and deputy chief whip of the Senate said that PDP women believe in the leadership roles of the former  president, adding that Jonathan would be part of a major stakeholders meeting this Thursday.
She said further: “We intend that former President Jonathan takes the leadership role in our party. He is our leading light and he is the  leader of the party.  As it is, he is the only former President who is still within the party and alive.
So we believe he is the only voice that can bring all warring groups together and will be able to resolve all the issues. That is exactly what he has decided to do. He even told us that there is a major stakeholders meeting on Thursday this week where efforts will be made  to resolve most of the issues in the party.”
