Suspect Admits Killing Police Officer In Delta


A 28-year-old killer suspect, Goift Ogoni, arrested on Thursday by police detectives at the Ughelli Police Division for alleged murder case involving a 50 -year -old man in the area, has admitted his involvement and allegedly confessed to the kidnapping, eventual murder of a police officer, DSP Emmanuel German last year 2016.
The suspect transferred to the State CID, Police Headquarters, Asaba was yesterday by the Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, and upon interrogation by Journalists the suspect said he belong to a 5-man gang of kidnappers, with a leader (name withheld) who had an issue with DSP German Emmanuel before he was killed.
He said the leader of the gang told them that DSP German, in the course of doing his official work, told him that he will kill him (gang leader) if he does not stop armed robbery and other criminal activities.
The suspect said this statement by the police officer angered their boss and then he began to plan how they will get the officer and deal with him for daring to say he will kill their leader. According to him, “our leader began to monitor his movement and activities, unknown to him, and we go to know that he is building a house somewhere. We then said this is an opportunity to get this man before he will kill us”.
“So, we called him on phone (I don’t know how our leader got the phone number of the officer) and introduced ourselves as building material dealers in Ughelli and that we would like to supply him materials on credit for him to pay later.
Unknown to him that it was a trap, he asked where he can see us, and our “Oga told him to come to Afiesere Junction, Ughelli Town that we are eating in a restaurant there. In about an hour, he called us that he was already in Afiesere Junction, I was on the other side of the road watching because I did not even know him in person, but our leader knows him.
