National Emergency Management Agency has taken delivery of 135,580 bags of 50kg rice donated by the Peoples Republic of China for direct distribution to victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
NEMA Director General, Engr. Mustapha Maihajja, who was at Apapa Port to supervise the clearance of the 6,779 metric tons of the rice, stated that the goods would be transported directly to various designated warehouses in the affected areas in the suz states of the North East.
The agency began transporting the rice, which arrived in 271 containers, to the locations on Monday.
NEMA DG revealed that the Federal Government would be officially presented with the gifts by the Chinese Government in one of the locations before direct distribution to the victims.
