Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Friday lost his father, Alhaji Yusuf Buratai.
The late Buratai died after a successful surgery at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
He was an ex-serviceman shop joined the defunct colonial-era West African Frontier Force in 1942.
He is survived by the army boss and 13 other children as well as many grandchildren.
The development was confirmed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Usman Kukasheka, in a statement.
It reads: “Good morning all, Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihirrajiun. This is to inform you of the passing away of the father of the Chief of Army Staff, Alhaji Yusuf Buratai this morning in Maiduguri.”
He was said to have been hospitalised for some days before he finally passed on.
